A two year old's social calendar

The past couple of weeks have left me tired and drained.  We had about 10 days worth of a "clogged" little boy, that resulted in a cranky and moody toddler....and parents.  Early last week we finally started to see a glimpse of that happy, smiley, and giggly boy.  What a relief.  In the midst of that we attended two birthday parties AND welcomed a new baby girl to the family. Ethan has a new cousin!!  My baby sister delivered Macy Denise on July 16.  She is perfect.

Leaving from a visit to see her last week.  Sweet hugs and kisses for baby.

We left them in the room alone for a minute and we came back to this.  He is very gentle and sweet so far.  And even shares his water bottles and trucks.
The week baby girl was born, we also had a birthday party for Ethan's buddy, Camden.
This is how we arrive to parties.

And we wear our sunglasses at night indoors

The blur going by with everyone but the birthday boy.

And our little OCD truck driver
We hadn't seen Sarah and Abigail for a week or two since they were on vacation so after the party we went to get something to drink at Chick-fil-a.  Our little love birds had a great time catching up.  They hugged, they kissed, the chased each other in an almost empty restaurant.

We also had a very special visitor this week.  Great Grandma Flynn came in from Arizona to visit us.  We had a couple of family dinners, she came to see what we do in a normal day and tour the new house, and we had a big trip to Grapevine Mills.  We went to the aquarium, had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, and ended the afternoon by building a bear at the Build-A-Bear Workshop.

Checking out the rescued turtles

Lunch at Rainforest.  Both kids were scared of the fake tigers that went off every ten minutes, Ethan more than Emma.
He sat in my lap, holding me the entire meal.

We started out nicely......

And ended like this.
Thank you Great Grandma Flynn for our fun day and for coming to visit.  We had a great time visiting with you and hope to see you again soon.

And lastly, we ended our week with a fun birthday party for our friend Abigail, commonly known as Abby at our house.  He, and all of the other little ones, had a fantastic time at the pool and splash pad.  He even made me go down the big kid slide many, many times.
C'mon, mom

After the party we invaded their house for the evening since Dad is in Vegas. The two kids had a great time playing with the scooter and quad.  They even had a bath together.  I miss being able to get together with their family like we used to do.

Like father, like son
Splish, splash
I am one exhausted momma.  We have a very active little one with a very busy social life.  I am so grateful to have the happy and carefree  sweetheart back!  He is back to being full of joy and energy.  Which is a good thing or we would have never survived this past week.  Now if we could just get Robert back home life would be just about perfect.

Fourth of July festivities

We had a great Independence Day week, celebrating and being grateful for a reason to celebrate. Wednesday, while we waited for Dad to get home early from work, Ethan and I went to the park while the weather was still "mild".  Evidently, Ethan is too good for the playground and opted to play with rocks and sticks instead.  We spent a good half hour throwing sticks into this "river".

"Bi sick"
On the fourth, the entire Flynn family came to our neighborhood pool for a picnic and swim day in efforts to avoid the crowded lake.  The pool was busy.  But, it was pleasant considering the holiday.  The weather was fantastic.  It was very comfortable.  That is not something we usually say this time of year.

Wrinkled feet

Playing Legos after everyone's naps.

Friday we head out to Lake Grapevine for a ride on the boat with Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Mike.  Ethan really loved the boat.  He even stayed awake on the ride back this year.  He enjoyed being able to drive the boat.  Anytime we tried to help him he would push our hands away.  We all love and appreciate the feeling of the wind as we ride across the water.  At some point we beached to cool off in the water.  More than anything, he loved finding rocks and throwing them into the water....and maybe at a duck or two.  Luckily, it didn't hit them and we quickly made him throw the other direction.

Clockwise, starting top left: Pointing at the waves and other boats,
relaxing as we ride along, showing us a rock, taking the wheel

Clockwise, starting top left: Hanging with Grandpa, studying some rocks,
telling someone or something to shh.

Clockwise, starting top left: Robert and Mike being Robert and Mike, doing a little exploring

Hanging with the ducks, playing throw the hat and get
Mom or Grandma to catch it before it hits the water.

We ended the evening having dinner with Chris, Meagan, and Logan at Mellow Mushroom.  Ethan's toddler anti-sharing tendencies start to come out when others are over.  It is minimal but it is there.

We spent the rest of the weekend doing a lot of this.  Ethan was pretty worn out after a couple of days in the water and sun.

We hope everyone one else had a great weekend.  Can you believe summer is halfway over already?!

A weekend in the boonies

While Dad was out of town for a couple of days Ethan and I decided to go visit Gram, Paw Paw, and Aunt Carissa before she pops!  We went shopping, did some swimming, went to the park, and even to see a movie.

Just like his Daddy

Hijacking the basket, making sure those Legos get home

Loving the "sprinkler"

Helping "Ga Ga" clean the pool

Friday morning we decided to go the park that I grew up playing on.
Should I go??

On Friday night, Carissa and I went to the New Kids on The Block concert. This was to replace our sister trip for this year, due to her current status.  It was a sold out show for them to serenade to 15,000 thirty-something women (maybe a little younger for some) reliving their youth.

Saturday morning we tried out Monster's University.  Due to 25 minutes of previews we did not make it through the entire movie but, he did pretty good all things considering.

Once again, just like his Daddy, playing Fast and Furious

Hope everyone else had a great weekend too.  Can you believe it is already July?!?!
